How Aurelia protects members

Clear answers about application review, verification, privacy, reporting and data retention.

01

What does “personally reviewed” mean?

An Aurelia reviewer assesses every membership application. No application is approved automatically.

The review covers eligibility, authenticity, completeness, alignment with Aurelia’s membership criteria and any safety concerns. Automated tools may flag an application for attention, but a person makes the decision.

02

Which checks are mandatory and which are optional?

Required before a profile appears

  • Approval by an Aurelia reviewer
  • Aurelia available in the member's area
  • Verified email address
  • Third-party confirmation that the member is 18 or over
  • Complete profile and approved main photo
  • Acceptance of the terms and community standards

Required for Full Membership

  • Age verification
  • Identity verification

These checks unlock Introductions and the other Full Membership benefits, and apply equally to men and women. Identity verification also establishes age, so the two are normally completed together. Every other check — photo, professional and wealth — is optional.

03

What does each verification confirm?

Age

A specialist provider confirms that the member meets Aurelia’s 18+ requirement, using a current photo taken at the time of the check to estimate age. It estimates age only — it does not identify the member, and it is not compared with the profile photo. This baseline check is not an identity, professional or financial verification.

Identity

Confirms that an independent provider validated a government-issued identity document, which also establishes the member’s age. This is a check of the document itself. It is not a comparison with the member’s profile photo — that is the separate, optional photo check below.

Photo

Optional. Confirms that a live person completed a prompted check at the moment it was taken. It is not compared with the profile photo. It does not confirm identity, age or future conduct.

Professional

Optional. Confirms only the specific professional fact or credential named with the badge. It does not confirm income or seniority beyond that fact. Wealth is a separate optional check.

Wealth

Optional. Confirms that Aurelia reviewed independent evidence that the member holds substantial personal wealth. It is a general confirmation only: it names no amount, band or source, and it does not verify anything a member has written on their profile. Financial answers a member declares themselves are never shown as verified.

04

Which badges will members see?

Once the required Full Membership checks are complete, the profile shows a single Verified badge. That one badge covers all three mandatory checks together — age, the current photo taken for the age check, and identity — because a member either completes all three or holds none of them. It says nothing about the optional checks: Verified on its own never implies photo, professional or wealth verification. A profile may also show Photo verified, Professional detail verified or Wealth verified where the member has completed those optional checks. Each badge shows its last-check month and explains only the specific fact confirmed. A Wealth verified badge never discloses an amount.

Identity verification expires when the supporting document expires or after three years, whichever comes first. Professional detail and wealth verification each expire after 12 months, since both can change. Expired badges are removed until renewed. Where a member has completed the optional photo check, it is repeated after 12 months or when their primary appearance changes materially.

05

Who can view profiles and initiate contact?

Approved Members and Full Members can view member profiles. Profile visibility is controlled separately from verification and membership level. Members choose one of three visibility settings:

Visible
Shown in discovery to Approved Members and Full Members who are permitted by both members' orientation and discovery preferences.
Discreet
Absent from discovery. Revealed only when the member sends the Introduction or Private Invitation available to their membership path, or explicitly approves a curated introduction.
Hidden
Unavailable for new discovery, Introductions and Private Invitations. Existing accepted conversations may continue.

An Approved Member may not send, accept or respond to Introductions. An Approved Member may be notified when an eligible Full Member requests an Introduction, but the request remains unavailable until Full Membership is enabled.

After the required verification, Full Members can participate in Introductions and use the other benefits included with their membership. Men may request an Introduction from an eligible woman and include one short note. Women may accept, decline or instead send an eligible man a Private Invitation. Acceptance or a Private Invitation opens a private conversation. A declined Introduction cannot be resent, and an unanswered request cannot be followed by another request from the same man. Blocking is immediate and reciprocal. Neither member is notified.

06

How are reports and appeals handled?

A member can report a profile, photo, message or conversation. Aurelia does not disclose the reporter’s identity to the reported member.

A person reviews the report and relevant evidence. Possible outcomes are no action, a warning, a restriction, suspension or a ban. Credible immediate risk may result in suspension while the report is investigated.

Suspended or banned members receive the reason category and an appeal route. Appeals are considered separately and may uphold, reduce or overturn the original decision.

07

What information does Aurelia retain?

Active accounts
Profile details, approved photos and conversations.
Verification
The result, method and relevant dates. Aurelia does not keep identity documents or photo-verification captures.
Reports and appeals
Relevant evidence and decisions for as long as needed to handle the case, an appeal, or a legal or safety obligation.
Deleted accounts
Active profile data is removed from the service immediately; deletion across connected systems is completed within 30 days.
Banned accounts
A protected email hash may be retained to flag attempted returns. The readable email, profile and photos are not kept for this purpose.

08

What are the limitations of verification?

Verification confirms only the fact named by the check or badge. It is not an endorsement, a background check, or a guarantee of a member’s honesty, financial position, intentions or future conduct.

Members should still protect personal and financial information, keep early conversations on Aurelia, meet in public initially and report anything concerning.
